Agricultural activity in the Siaya county is dominated by small-scale subsistence farming, mainly of maize, beans and cassava. This farming is also rain dependent and susceptible to shocks in the variation of prices due to demand and supply. Farmers are often faced with a glut when supplies from largescale farming regions flood the market leading to low incomes and in some cases total loss of produce.

The foundation seeks to introduce better farming practices in the form of irrigated agriculture, higher value crops and processing of farm produce.

The development of a horticultural produce sector will enable better diets that will lead to health benefits to the community. The youth will also be empowered to run agribusinesses that will support the agricultural value chain.

Crops such as tomatoes, vegetables, mangoes, guavas, avocados among others are focused on with an emphasis on irrigation.

These interventions are aimed at improving incomes and building resilience of small holder farmers as well as improving the diversity of the foods  available in the region.
